The Closet

I mop the floors and sweep the halls
And into the closet I go-
Open the doors and everything falls
And onto the floor I go.
A fluffy coat and silver shoes with flowers down the sides
Then a big straw hat drops on my head,
As a polka dot scarf with a pair of gloves
Flies out of that wardrobe, you see.
I check my watch, it’s ten-oh-eight
This dreary task must be done
So I jump off the floor,
Stuff the pants in the corner
And a nightgown on the shelf,
Throw the hat, shoes, and scarf
And force the doors to close.
Oh no there’s one more left-
The fluffy coat sprawled on the floor!
But there’s no room behind the doors,
And that’s the only closet!
